The Real Reason Behind Renee Zellweger’s Mysterious Hiatus from Hollywood

Too much of anything can be bad for you– this is true for most things in life. You might find yourself pushing yourself hard at work, to the point where you’ve neglected your family and friends, or the pressure to get good grades in school might have led you to disregard your health.

The problem is, this could be so overwhelming that it could burn you out. This isn’t limited to students or office workers, even celebrities experience the burnout from constantly being in the limelight.

Hiatus

While we think that celebrity life is generally glamorous, there are a lot of A-listers who choose themselves over the spotlight. That is, despite their successes and lucrative endorsements, the stars opt to take a breather and steer away from the public’s eye for a while.

Those who do find the guts to take a break are brave for it is not easy to step back of a career high, after all, you wouldn’t know if your fans and producers will welcome you back with open arms after what you’ve done.

One of those brave souls is Renee Zellweger, who famously took a hiatus in 2010. Her decision to suddenly disappear from the scene came after a couple of projects that missed the mark. The actress instantly stopped making movies and shows, going to premieres, and doing big interviews. So what happened?

Crucial Part

The 50-year-old called the hiatus crucial for her health. At the time, she wasn’t healthy nor was she taking care of herself. What’s worse was that she saw herself as the last of her priorities.

For the first time in her life, Renee talked to a therapist who said that the actress spent almost all her life as a public personality and just a tiny portion in her real life. She admitted that she had a lot on her plate all the time during those days and so she needed to unburden herself with the thoughts.

Depression and Burnout

The reason behind her long break from show business was depression and burnout. “A rose doesn’t bloom all year unless it’s plastic,” the actress quoted her friend Salma Hayek who she ran into an airport. She understood that this was what she needed.

Thanks to a shrink that set things in perspective, Renee opted out of the busy scene, but the Bridget Jones thespian didn’t immediately notice that she was burned out because of the pace of her career, which prompted her pretention that she was still OK to continue with whatever she needed to do.

In 2014, she broke the hiatus with a brief appearance at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards. However, the media seemed to have brushed off the fact that this was the first time she attended a party in four years and instead focused on how she looked, with a lot of people claiming that the star had gone under the knife.

Renee refuted the speculations in a heart-felt essay explaining why she had been away for so long. She eventually came back in 2016 for Bridget Jones’s Baby and has since been working quietly. She also clarified that she was on the bumpy road only during the first year but has happily enjoyed the years that followed.
