Jennifer Lopez Says Her First Two Marriages Don’t Count for This Surprising Reason

Ever since she starred as the late Selena Quintanilla in the 1997 biopic, there is no stopping Jennifer Lopez. After being catapulted to stardom, she continued to launch her acting and singing career, making her one of the most sought-after artists. Sadly, this came with a huge caveat – along with her popularity, people became so interested in her personal life, specifically her love life.

Wedding Deets

Everybody knows who Jennifer has dated throughout the span of her career up to now that she’s gearing toward her fourth marriage to Alex Rodriguez. However, for Jenny from the Block, she doesn’t see it as the fourth because she said she really doesn’t count her first two. She revealed this through a YouTube video that showed her preparations for her “It’s My Party” tour.

J-Lo and A-Rod are a match made in heaven, just look at how they have their own monikers. They first met in 2005 but it was a casual one as the singer shook hands with the athlete during a game. Plus, she was unavailable because she was then still married, but fast forward to March this year, the former footballer asked for her hand in marriage with a gigantic ring that no one could simply say “no” to.

When asked when she and her fiancé are going to tie the knot, Jennifer explained that this will happen by next year, possibly in a church because she had never exchanged “I do’s” in a church. As to what to expect about the wedding, the “I’m Real” singer shared that she wanted a big one, a hint perhaps to his soon-to-be groom?

Wrong Reason

The 49-year-old also shed light on her past relationships, explaining that of her three marriages, she doesn’t count the first two. Jennifer tied the knot with Ojani Noa in 1997 and split in 1998, which was followed by bitter lawsuits. The next one was with dancer Cris Judd in 2001 that ended in 2003.

To this, she explained that because her marriage with the waiter-turned restaurateur only lasted for nine months and with the dancer just 11 months, she didn’t count these because she said “yes” for the wrong reasons. Jennifer pointed out that she was young when she got married to them, the time when although a lot of people surrounded her, she still felt lonely.

Because of this, she said she wanted to always be with somebody, hence her reason to get married. But this was wrong, Jennifer declared, and shouldn’t be the deciding factor in tying the knot. Instead, the songstress advised choosing someone who can make you better.

Jennifer was married for the third time with Marc Anthony, with whom she shares her twins 11-year-olds Max and Emme. The former love birds got hitched in 2004 and ended their marriage in 2014. The two stay amicable despite ending their story five years ago – in fact, the mother greeted her ex-husband during father’s day.
