Trying to Lose Weight? Trying the Noom Diet is What Many are Doing Rn
The journey to losing weight can be very frustrating, especially when you do not know where to start. You may have done plenty of research and have come across plenty of diet tricks and fads that do not seem to suit you.
No matter how hard you try mindlessly doing portion control or exercising, it may be impossible to reach your weight goal if you do not know the fitness program that suits you best. Always remember, not all sorts of diet (keto, vegan, low-fat diet) are suitable for everyone. Diets of any kind would always depend on several factors–your age, weight, medical conditions, and lifestyle, to mention a few.
Noom is a weight management application that offers a realistic weight loss program. The app keeps track of what you eat every day, as well as your daily physical activity. It is a modern diet approach that helps users change behaviors to their favor as they try to reach their fitness goals.
According to a 2016 study that was published in Scientific Reports, it was found that out of the 35,921 participants that used Noom for weight loss, 77.9 percent of them lost weight over the course of 18 months.
Unlike the other diet applications, you need to pay a membership fee in order to access Noom. You can opt for their $199 annual membership or the $59 monthly plan. The difference is that Noom has a helpful support group feature that users can access. Wondering how the Noom diet works? Here’s how.
Noom Creates a Weight-Loss Plan Based on Your Personal Information
For the app to create a weight-reduction plan that suits you, you will need to provide your personal information such as your demographic profile, weight-loss goals, level of activity, and current location.
It Has a Meal Tracker
To keep an eye on your diet, you need to log the food you have eaten for the day. While doing so, you will see that Noom has a color-coding system that categorizes food into three colors: red, yellow, and green.
Red foods indicate the ones with the most calorie-dense, while the yellow foods category shows foods that have more calories per ounce. Green foods show the ratio that has the least amount of calories per ounce. With the color-coding breakdown of your eating habits, you will conveniently see the visual projection, and you will know immediately which food category you need to lessen your intake of.
You Can Monitor Your Exercise Activity
With Noom, you can choose your workout from their workout library. For instance, if you choose walking as your exercise, you can log the total distance and duration of your walk. The calories you have burned will then be automatically calculated by the app. You can also change the intensity of your workout depending on your preference.
Noom Has a Support Group with an Expert Group Coach
After two weeks of starting your Noom experience, you will be assigned to a support group with a group coach. You can access the groups 24/7, and coaches guide you on a daily basis.
Just something to take note of is that Noom coaches are not registered, dieticians. However, they undergo training through the company’s “Noomiversity”, which makes their coach training program qualified to become an Approved Transition Program, as announced by The National Consortium for Credentialing Health and Wellness Coaches.
The app features seem cool, but is the Noom diet safe?
Sports cardiologist John P. Higgins from the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston said that the Noom diet is safe for anybody who wants to try it. The app provides a minimum number of calories that one must not exceed on a daily basis, and it does not restrict food intake in an unsafe way.
Higgins added that he commends the app for using evidence-based style to change a person’s behavior. He also mentioned the fact that the app also has smart coaches that help users realistically set their fitness goals and eventually achieve them.
