Get in, pour water, lather, rinse and wash. Having a shower is so simple. We spend a major time of our life showering on our own, so we might assume that we do it quite perfectly. However, what if we told you that you might be wrong?

If you’ve been suffering from irritated skin or lots of acne and bumps, then a part of the cause might be your wrong showering habits.

Scrubbing more than required

Until and unless you’ve been working outside the whole day long, having a bath without the use of soap regularly can be sufficient, even after a workout. Yes, you read that right! The only place that needs major soaping is your armpits and groin area.

In addition to the natural oil, humans have certain useful bacteria on their skin, which protect us from acne and eczema flare-ups and prevent dry skin. But if you scrub from head to toe, even with a mild soap, you strip your skin of these bacteria and their benefits.

Taking a shower with too hot water

If there’s too much steam coming out of the water, it’s a sign that your shower is too hot. Too hot showers can result in dry and itchy skin. Moreover, it can cause eczema to heighten. But don’t we all love the soothing effect of a hot shower? So, is it possible to enjoy the heat without harming the skin? Well, here’s the trick. Before stepping into the water, allow it to build the steam. Once it’s warm inside the shower, turn the temperature down to a more comfortable setting, and then get in.

Using a harsh soap

We all love the clean and clear feeling that we experience after scrubbing the skin. But that might not be that good as it looks. When you use a harsh soap and scrub vigorously, it’s because all the natural oils on your skin are stripped off.

Most of us don’t realize that the natural oil on our skin acts as a lubricant and allows our hands to slide on our bodies easily. What’s more, it protects your skin from getting dried out when exposed to hot water and whipping winds.

To sum it up

When it comes to hygiene, skincare plays quite a significant role. On one hand, showering helps to get rid of all the bodily dirt and dead cells, but on the other, it can also be detrimental to the skin, if not done properly. If a person has a proper skincare regimen in place, he/she is more likely to see its benefits for a long period.

Hope the above-mentioned easy tips will help you stay away from damage when showering.
