Demi Lovato Finally Owns up to Mistakes that Prevented Her from Staying Sober

Many fans may love Demi Lovato for her sweet, angelic voice, but the renowned singer has been battling addiction and substance abuse for years. This year could have been Demi’s 7th year of sobriety, had it not been for the recent relapse that almost took her life.

Nevertheless, the singer has a lot to celebrate and look forward to, not that she’s back in recovery. Through a series of Instagram posts, the 26-year-old singer explained the struggles she has endured and the mistakes she has made that led to that dreadful overdosing incident last year — but most importantly, she had a powerful message for all her fans who’re struggling with addiction and have lost all hopes of recovery.

Dedication to Friends

In a recent Instagram post, Demi Lovato tagged her supportive friends and thanked them for sticking with her, especially in her darkest moments. The singer was extremely grateful to have a strong support system in her life consisting of friends and family she can rely on in times of need.

Moreover, their creativity and incredible talent inspire her every day to continue her battle against addiction and break free from her inner demons one day.

Demi also emphasized how she’s incredibly grateful for her friends for going the extra miles and flying from different countries just to visit her and make sure she’s okay.

She also expressed how much she loves and treasures her friends who have remained by her side through thick and thin without passing any judgment. Instead, they extend their compassion and understanding towards her when she needs it the most.

On Relapse and Recovery

Demi also encouraged her fans who’re just like her to seek help whenever they needed it. The singer said she would’ve been seven years sober if she hadn’t relapsed. But she doesn’t regret making those mistakes since they served as the biggest lessons in life, and made her only stronger and wiser with time.

The singer said that when she wound up in rehab once again this year, she initially experienced guilt and shame because deep down she blamed herself for her misfortune. But now that she has recovered, Demi realizes that there’s nothing shameful about getting help.

She’s ever grateful towards her AA team and medical professionals who gave her endless support and care while she was in recovery. Instead of passing judgment and condemnation, they made her feel understood and welcomed, but more importantly, they made her feel human for all the mistakes she had made. She wants everyone to know it’s okay to reach out and ask for help again.

Celebrating Milestones and Successes

Six months after Demi quit drinking alcohol and drugs, she posted a celebratory picture on her Instagram account announcing the exciting milestone. While six months may be a short time, the singer said it was a significant achievement for her to stay sober for that long.
